The municipality of Benahavis belongs to the western Costa del Sol, and is located just minutes from the famous sunny beaches between Estepona and Marbella. Just outside San Pedro Alcántara you find the small town, or perhaps when it really started, only the small village Benahavis, which began to become very popular in the 80s when there were only a few restaurants and some small houses in the area. Now Benahavis, 40 years later, is one of the most sought-after residential areas in Spain, and the restaurants can hardly become more popular than they already are.

Benahavis has nothing to do with hectic tourist life, mass tourism or anything like that. If you choose Benahavis you have good connections to the rest of the Costa del Sol, and easy access to national and international flights in Malaga, and close to other popular destinations on the Costa del Sol.

Benahavis: Food and Golf!

Benahavis is one of the richest municipalities in Spain thanks to the large number of nice residential areas and golf courses that have been built in the area in recent years.

Golf clubs such as La Quinta and Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club, designed by golf legend Severiano Ballesteros and exclusive Marbella Club Golf Resort belong to Benahavis, as well as La Zagaleta, a very exclusive supervised private residential area where you will find some of the finest and most expensive homes in Spain. Many well-known people have choosen to buy properties here, Vladimir Putin, Athina Onassis for example. Also nearby is Villa Padierna with its 5-star hotel and golf course where Barak and Michelle Obama opts to spend the night when visiting Marbella. There is even a golf academy with training and putting green right in the village. Other golf courses in the municipality are Benahavís Golf Club, Golf Club Deportivo Benadeportes, Club de Golf El Higueral, Flamingos Golf Club and

Ravines of Zagaleta. In addition, there is a huge number of golf courses in the nearby municipalities which are only minutes away from Benahavis.

The village of Benahavis itself is still small, but the municipality is large and consists mostly of untouched nature: mountains, forests and watercourses. If you love food then will discover a real paradise in Benahavís, not in vain its called the dining room of Costa del Sol. There are dozens of cosy restaurants with great atmosphere, and great food. Most offer typical Spanish food, which is rarely found along the coast, but international dishes are also on the menus. Relatively, the restaurants in Benahavis provide very high standards at reasonable prices. Typical dishes are meat in all its varieties.
