When you are staying in Marbella, you can see the sunrise over the Mediterranean almost every day of the year. That, of course, is if you are awake early. It is a beautiful sight, but the sunsets and the twilight hours are magical on the Costa del Sol.
Slowly the sunlight begins to get softer in the evening. The colour of the sea turns dark velvet blue. You suddenly start to see how the lights are turned on along the coast. It is something very special about it. And it is warm: Summer is in the air, and it will last at least until the end of September!

If you want to watch the sunset in Puerto Banus, head for Benabola, on the right-hand side of the entrance to the Marina. From there you get the chance to enjoy fantastic sunsets, and there are several nice restaurants and terraces.
Another great spot to watch the sunset in Puerto Banus is by the lighthouse on the pier at the end of the port. The view of the sun disappearing in the horizon, while the marina lights up, and the bustling and luxury nightlife slowly starts in the port is amazing.
Watch the sunset from a fancy beach club
Along the coast, many beach clubs are open until late. Take an evening walk in the sand on the beach, and have a nice dinner by the sea.
Sunsets on the beach promenades in Marbella and San Pedro
The seafront promenades in Marbella and San Pedro are outstanding landmarks. The traffic-free walking paths are perfect places to watch magic sunsets and twilights. You can walk from the centre of Marbella to Puerto Banus, past legendary Marbella Club Hotel and Puente Romano. From Puerto Banus, the seaside promenade continues to San Pedro.
Sunset over the Atlantic Ocean in Tarifa
Tarifa is less than an hour away from us. This is where the Mediterranean sea meets the Atlantic Ocean: The Strait of Gibraltar. The wide beaches and dunes on the Atlantic coast are amazing wild nature, and the African coast is so close that it feels like one can touch it with the fingertips. The sunset over the Atlantic Ocean is breathtaking. When you look out over the ocean, can you imagine that there is nothing else than water between you and the Canary Islands and that Africa only is 10 miles away?
