The most picturesque village

It is hard not to fall in love with Benahavis. The municipality on Costa del Sol is charming and has so much to offer the visitors. For many Benahavis town is the most picturesque village in Andalusia.

Benahavis: Gastronomy, nature, golf and beautiful views

Benahavís is an inland town on the western Costa del Sol. Its found very close to the coast and the beaches in San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella and Estepona. The municipality has very extensive mountainous lands, which stretch from the coast to Ronda. The urban area is located 160 meters above sea level. The borough of Benahavis is small in population, with just over 3,000 inhabitants, almost half of them are foreigners.  

The municipality has large areas of forest, dominated by pines, holm oaks and cork oaks, which are crossed by the Guadaiza, Guadalmina and Guadalmedina rivers.

Despite its proximity to the coast, Benahavís is at its heart a mountain town. Not far to the north of the village, two large natural parks encompass some of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in Spain: Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra de Grazalema. These, along with the Sierra Blanca to the east, offer many activities from mountain biking, hiking and trekking to rare bird watching.

Golf in Benahavis

There are currently around 12 courses golf courses surrounding Benahavís. Benahavís has become the second town in Spain, only surpassed by Marbella, with the largest number of golf courses. These are Villa Padierna, Flamingos, Alferini and Tramores, La Quinta, La Zagaleta, La Zagaleta and Los Barrancos, Old and New Atalaya, Marbella Club, Monte Mayor, Los Arqueros, and El Higueral. There is also a Municipal Golf Academy. Also, the golf courses in Marbella are close.

Gastronomy in Benahavis

Benahavis is known for its gastronomy and many restaurants. Lamb and game meat are traditional. The most typical local dishes are rabbit and partridge stews, suckling pig, lamb and grilled sirloin.
